Why Patients Should Consider All-on-4

Instead of waiting for several months to get false teeth attached to the implants, patients can get them attached the same day. The process takes a shorter amount of time because it does not require bone grafts or a large number of implants. The All-on-4 implant procedure at our Tonawanda office gives the patient natural-looking teeth and helps them feel at ease chewing, speaking, and socializing.

When patients are missing only a few teeth, treatments such as partial dentures, bridges, or traditional implants may be a better fit. However, people who come to our office in Tonawanda for an All-on-4 implant procedure either have no teeth, or their teeth are failing. Also, if a patient has certain health conditions, a bone graft may not be recommended and this treatment may be a safer choice.

“The All-on-4 implant treatment result in the patient having a more functional mouth and confident smile”

Causes and Effects of Tooth Loss

There are many reasons teeth can be lost including: aging process, accidents and injuries. Badly broken down teeth with decay can cause severe pain and irritation. Other examples of the effect of damaged or missing teeth:

  • Eating can be very challenging due sensitivity to certain foods, or hot and cold food or drinks.
  • Patients suffering from missing teeth can get frustrated with trying to eat or speak. Traditional dentures may not be working well for them.
  • Patients may even avoid social situations due to not being happy with their smile or lack of confidence due to missing teeth.

There is no doubt that these effects can significantly impact a patient’s quality of life. Fortunately, there are a variety of options for replacing missing teeth. Our Tonawanda All-on-4 Implant specialists can guide patients into the best treatment for them.

"According to WebMD, tooth loss is a common but not inevitable part of aging."

How the All-on-4 Implant Treatment Works

Standard Dental implants are placed on either arch and allow for replacement of missing dentition. For more information on this visit this article by American Academy of Implant Dentistry.

The procedure for All-on-4 begins with a comprehensive oral exam which includes, impression, scan, and X-rays. The next appointment our doctor will apply local anesthetic to numb the patient and remove any remaining dentition. Once the remaining dentition is removed, then the doctor will place the implants. These titanium implants will support the new dentition.

“All-on-4 implant treatment is similar to getting regular implants.”

After the Procedure

Following your treatment, our team will review and send you home with specific post-operative instructions that should be followed for the best and quickest healing and prevent any infection. For example a few of the instructions include, using a soft bristle toothbrush, elevate head while sleeping, and soft diet. Following the procedure light bleeding, tenderness, and soreness is normal. As always, call our office immediately if these symptoms get worse rather than subside.

Implants should be maintained well as if they were normal teeth. Patients need to continue brushing and flossing regularly. Check ups are a must to maintain this new dentition for as long as possible.

“Patients should maintain proper care of the implants and their oral health. Just as with natural teeth, patients need to continue brushing and flossing daily.“
